hERON is the long-distance, Seattle to San Antonio collaboration between Progeny of Chisme/Ghost Palace (MPC, guitar, records) and Rob Castro of Grayskul/Chisme/Ghost Palace (bass). Instrumental trip-hop infused with a gloomy dreamlike melancholy, hERON’s cinematic, sad bangers draw as much from psych rock, 70’s pop and Twin Peaks as they do from Seattle’s chief exports of hiphop and grunge. hERON’s self-titled 12-song debut release is available on tape, wax, and digital.
Post-hardcore duo Glassjaw has just released Material Contro,l their first proper album in over a decade! The band hasn’t missed a beat though, picking up where they left off with crunchy guitars and intense vocals at their core. Glassjaw is currently on the road with New York’s Quicksand in support of the new project, and they are making a Denver stop this week (July 11th) at the legendary Ogden Theater. Fresh off his new video “LongBoard,” Chicago artist Bardo Af drops a new gem for the summer “Belong” ft. Emily Blue. The track features an uplifting, soulful beat courtesy of Cornel East. Flexing his singing and rapping abilities, Bardo blesses with track with positive engergy that perfectly segways to Ms. Blue’s gorgeous vocals to grace the chorus. Bardo’s youthful energy and originality on “Belong” serve as a reminder that Chicago is still one of the best places to look for dope up and coming music. Joey Bada$$ has made a name for himself as one of hip-hop’s foremost freestyle rappers. He continued to add to that legacy of dope impromptu rap sessions during one of his recent shows, when he freestyled over a minimalistic drum beat and the chants of an enthusiastic crowd.
Bursting onto the pop scene recently with a slew of hot records and videos, the talented and beautiful Detroit native Farrah Mechael displays serious star power with her new single “That Way” featuring rapper Mackned. With the help of Grammy nominated producer Clarence Hutchinson AKA Don Parma, known for his work with Ro James, E40, and more, Farrah has achieved her most mature and refined performance to date. Farrah’s heartfelt vocals express the complex emotions of the lyrics throughout the song.

On the heels of her 2017 debut album, I, which received widespread critical acclaim, R&B singer Niia continues to release new music and collaborations with the likes of Goldlink, Gallant, and many more popular artists. She’s currently on a national tour with electro/jazz singer Charlotte Cardin, and we were lucky enough to catch an intimate performance at Denver’s Globe Hall.
The duo known as H09909 (pronounced Horror) have been making waves for a while now with their unique brand of politically conscious, hardcore, punk-infused rap. Known for their theatrical, and aggressive performances, they’ve hit the road with acts like Show Me The Body, Faith No More, Ministry, and others. They are currently on tour with industrial band 3Teeth in support of their debut LP United States of Horror. We caught the Denver stop at the Marquis Theatre where they threw down a highly energized performance that had fans in an all out frenzy. Mike G, one of the original members from beloved hip hop group Odd Future, has surprised fans and stoners across the world with the 4/20 release of his new EP, Chase Clouds: a project that came together on its own, during a time where Mike was in an extended creative period. The project stems from the creative process he has been in while working on his debut album Stealth Fighter, a frequency that Mike says he’s appreciative to be operating at.
Last week, UK based production/DJ duo Stööki Sound took over The Black Box, one of Denver’s premier venues to catch up and coming electronic music. With their immaculate blend of genres ranging from Trap to Hip Hop, to UK bass, the London duo threw down an energetic set that had the crowd turned all the way up, even moshing at times. Zve pronounced “Zee”is an new artist that knows how to write a catchy hook and make you believe in his songwriting abilities right away. His latest track “Bless” pulls you into the song from the very beginning. One of his lyrics in this song is “If I said it it, I’m goin get get it”, and honestly we believe him…he’s on the right track. We look forward to hearing more from Zve in the future. We caught the Denver stop of his The Beautiful & Damned Tour w/ Phora & Trippie Redd at 1st Bank Center, where the 28 year old MC performed to a packed house. Enjoying A1 stage production and G-Eazy’s signature crystal clear vocals, the crowd sang along to all the hits, and the young artist reminded everyone why he’s one of the most popular rappers out right now. In his short but impressive career DZA has already worked with heavyweights like A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Rick Ross, Mac Miller & more. Kendrick Lamar just delivered another insane performance! This time he made his appearance at the 2018 BRIT Awards. He played a version of “FEEL.” off DAMN. before performing his “New Freezer” collaboration alongside Rich The Kid. Kendrick stood on the top of a glass box while Rich The Kid destroyed a sports car inside. Kendrick took home the awards for Best International Male Solo artist.
