Spanish producer Cookin Soul just dropped off this unexpected blend of two of this year’s biggest hit’s, Future’s “Mask Off,” and Childish Gambino’s “Redbone.” Surprisingly, it works, with a flipped version of Redbone as a soulful backdrop for Future’s apathetic vocals. The contrast is dope, and Soul managed to keep the integrity of both songs. Bonus points for making this shit on the SP-404 for the analog heads.

“Really pumped on filming this cover and getting the chance to open up for Excision this Friday on March 24th in Houston, TX. For all you drummers out there, playing at 150 and 140 bpm is what I consider a “sweet spot” for fills, beats, tricks, etc. Its the tempo for most dubstep and trap music, so listen to some of the artists in that genre and have fun with it!!” @Dylan Taylor

We’ve heard a million different rumors, but we’re pretty sure no one actually knows the origins of 420. Regardless, it’s a great time of day to smoke, and it’s turned into one hell of a party every year on April 20th around the country. We checked out some of the festivities in weed hubs around the US, here’s some of our favorite photos from the weekend.
It wouldn’t be 420 weekend in Denver without an appearance from legendary smoker and rhymesayer Devin The Dude. We caught his performance at Summit Music Hall to close out a big weekend of shows in Downtown Denver, and it was a blast. In typical Denver fashion there was plenty of smoke clouds coming from on stage and in the crowd. You could’ve easily caught a nice contact high just from being there, and Devin really brought it with a classic set.
Portland, Oregon is quickly becoming the new hot spot for weed tourists from around the country and world, and for good reason. They have great herb, microbrews, and an impressive concert scene that’s really been picking up on the hip hop side of things. We got the chance to check out the city’s largest 420 party, the first annual Cloud City music and cannabis exibit featuring headliner Lupe Fiasco, hosted at the Roseland Theater in downtown Portland. Veteran producer Amp Live has been blurring lines between genres for close to two decades. From boom bap and reggae beginnings as one half of legendary Oakland hip hop duo Zion I, to filthy dubstep productions alongside the likes of Bassnectar and others, Amp Live proves that there are no rules in music. His latest offering, the Atmostphere EP on Gravitas Records has little bit of everything we’ve come to hope for from the versatile producer. There’s elements of poppy EDM influence, classic hip hop, reggae, trap, dubstep and little dash of something that’s unique to Amp himself. With some awesome features from Eligh, Lana Shea, and Cristina Soto to round it out, this EP is a great listen for any music fan.
