Toronto’s hit songwriter Dion Todd just dropped his new single “Remedy for Insanity,” with a writing assist from Grammy award winner Tiffany Fred and production from Grammy award winner Philip Larsen. This bouncy pop record fuses worldly influence with infectious house rhythms and tribal vibes that are the backdrop for Dion’s retro style vocals that remind us of Phil Collins. The song explores the powerful intoxication of a new relationship. Be on the look out for Dion’s forthcoming full length project in early 2019!

We’ve been following Colorado’s own SoDown for a while now, and it’s safe to say the young DJ/Producer is on a roll. In 2018 alone he’s made appearances at Coachella, Electric Forest, Sonic Bloom, and tons of other festivals around the country. He’s gearing up to hit the road again with Opiuo and then The Floozies, but before leaving he blessed the hometown fans with headline performances in Boulder & Fort Collins. We caught his unforgettable performance at The Fox, and he really threw down.
The Cannijuana Friends provide an entertaining and fully dimensional view of the role that Marijuana can have in a healthy society. Their mission is to remove all the negative stigmas associated with Cannabis and its derivates and promote the value, and benefits of cannabis-based medications, while denouncing the evils of big pharma and its overpriced and sometimes dangerous drugs in a fun, entertaining and light-hearted way. Because news don’t always have to be serious and stern.
It might be hard to believe for some but KING’s Pipe Online Headshop, one of the industry’s friendliest and favorite places for sturdy, budget friendly, & gorgeous glass bongs, would never have come to be if it weren’t for the hard work, dedication, and sheer optimism of its owner. Having left his financially stable 9 – 5 corporate setting to become a self sufficient yet humble entrepreneur in a business and community that he truly loves, we’re all incredibly lucky that he took that great and risky leap to bring us the awesomeness that is a trustworthy, safe, customer centered, and amazingly affordable online smoke shop that has time and again proven that they are genuinely here for the people.
Boulder-based, sax playing, dance music producer SoDown has been making big waves over the last year playing festivals like Coachella, Electric Forest, Big Dub, Sonic Bloom, and more. He’s gearing up to release an EP mid October, and then sets off on two major tours supporting OPIUO and The Floozies, but before hitting the road he’s showing some love to the hometown with an intimate headlining performance at the legendary Fox Theatre on October 6th with support from Megan Hamilton and Oklio.
The forward-thinking, genre-bending artist Tommy Swisher (SWISH) returns with “Honey,” a sultry single with an unorthodox visual. The St. Louis artist continues to expand his career as one of the most refreshing and distinctive new voices in contemporary rap and r&b. His single “Honey” shows that he hasn’t missed a beat and will continue to deliver with each release. “Honey” exudes fun, futuristic vibes combined with excellent production to back Tommy’s ear friendly melodies and unique voice. Tommy is always pushing his boundaries and definitely took it to the next level with his Blake Little inspired music video. Swish gets extra props for rocking that pair of those Nike x Sean Wortherspoon Air Max 1/97’s, one of our favorite sneaker drops this year!

The inaugural Grandoozy has come and gone, and the organizers of Superfly (the minds behind Bonnaroo and Outside Lands) can claim another successful event to their name. Growing pains are to be expected with any opening, but over the weekend they were impressively minimal, centering largely on the difficulty of concert-goers’ arrival and exit. What most will remember, whether they purchased a one or three day pass, is the relentless talent that radiated from the four stages in Overland Park. Check out the breakdown of our favorite performances from each day.

Hailing from one of America’s most dangerous and forgotten neighborhoods, New Orleans’ 7th Ward, SuicideboyS have been taking the nation by storm. They only recently got on our radar after word spread of the duo quickly selling out large auditoriums around the country, something you don’t see all that often from independent artists. We had to see what the hype was all about. Their music has hardcore rap vibes with heavy bass and unexpected samples that both rappers really work well with. We’ve seen a lot of sold out shows, but to say the $uicideboy$ concert at The Fillmore was packed, would be a massive understatement. On either side people were practically being pushed off the railings to get a view, and in the center of the venue (for anyone brave enough to enter) there was a full blown mosh pit that could rival any metal show.

N I K Ø T E N E – is primed and ready to carve out his place in the EDM world. After releasing his first two singles, “1982” and “Summer Ain’t the Same” in July of 2018 he has been winning over new listeners on Spotify with over 100k streams to date. He is an independent artist but is garnering attention from industry professionals alike with his new single, “Hunter In Your Heart.”
Several label mates from California’s Courteous Family have been on a North American run promoting the label as well as several new releases from each respective artist. The takeover stopped at Denver’s bass music hub The Black Box for an evening of experimental beats from headliner Huxley Anne, who threw down a banging set that included several tracks from her 2017 release Illium plus much more. Support from Gangus, Hapa, and Tone rounded out an excellent show. In case you missed it, our own Tylar Beechum captured the fun. Check out the photo recap and look out for more underground music at The Black Box coming soon!
Few artists in the game currently have a buzz like the prolific New Orleans duo $uicideboy$. With an entirely unique brand of dark, hardcore hip hop, they’ve worked with everyone from Juicy J, to Denzel Curry, as well as members of the A$AP Mob and more. Still independent at the moment, the two cousins Ruby da Cherry (aka Suicide Leopard) and Slick Sloth (aka Suicide Christ) have managed to sell out shows almost instantaneously in all the major cities including Chicago, LA, New York, and most recently here in Denver.
We can’t remember the last time that independent hip hop OG’s Atmosphere didn’t sell out Red Rocks. Of course, this year was no different, especially with help from label mates Grieves, as well as hip hop veteran Evidence of Dilated Peoples fame. The whole night was truly one to remember, with excellent performances from everyone including the young talent dEM Atlas who set off the evening in perfect fashion.

California based record label Courteous Family is home to some of the most talented and promising young DJ/producers making experimental bass music. Several of the label mates have teamed up for a North American tour headlined by multidisciplinary artist and self proclaimed electric sorceress Huxley Anne, who’s been gaining popularity over the last year since the release of her debut album Ilium in 2017.
There’s no better place to get high than a concert. Good friends, good music, and a blunt or two is the perfect recipe for a great night. Usually, the most stressful part is sneaking your weed (or whatever party favors you might have) into the venue without getting harassed by security. We were stoked to stumble across shopstealth.net, a website with tons of cool products with hidden compartments and features that make it easy to hide whatever you need to with no risk of getting caught up. Their goal is to provide privacy, anonymity and safety to all of their customers, and their huge array of products does just that. Check em out!
