Meet Jason Rock, a 15 year old DJ based outside of New York City. Jason has been producing and DJing for about four years. In those four years, a lot has happened. He has played for multiple nightclubs, met a lot of people, and learned some amazing things. Jason is now spending most of his time in the studio working on his upcoming album. Although most people judge him for his age, when they see him in the booth, the whole crowd lights up. He plays music for various artists along the line and they sound better with him mixing their songs in his playlist.
We were stoked to find out about this awesome collab between rising L.A. artist Anderson .Paak and the legendary DJ Premier, along with Russian producer BMB Spacekid. This unpredictable and original electro funk joint is as interesting as it sounds, but still listenable and catchy none the less. On the Water, a dark folk project from Philadelphia, will soon release their fifth album, Cordelia. Fletcher Van Vliet, songwriter and founding member, describes the album as a dark love poem about self-discovery, realizing the things you love, close friends and adventure, limitations and failures, and bouts with depression. Some of the songs are directly about the loss of his father, who unexpectedly passed away in 2012 of cancer. After listening the album in it’s entirety, I can say it was both inspirational and deeply emotional as the moods transitioned intermittently. Definitely worth giving it a listen below.
