Though Rick Ross has been somewhat out of the spotlight in the last year, he continues to drop consistent music in terms of output and quality. Judging from his new video “Santorini Greec,” Rozay’s been doing alright on the low. The video features gorgeous scenery and women, shot on location in one of the world’s most beautiful islands (you guessed it) Santorini, Greece. Perfect vibe to close out the summer, enjoy!
Diplo’s Mad Decent Block Party is always a blast, and this year was no exception. We caught the Colorado stop of the tour at Red Rocks that featured Slumberjack, Valentino Khan, Cheat Codes, Alison Wonderland, Cashmere Cat, and of course, Major Lazer to close out the night. There was ups and downs, and we have our personal preferences (Alison Wonderland killed it) but overall Major Lazer reminded everyone whose show it really was, with a huge display of lights, LED screens, dancers, cannons, money throwing and other debauchery we’ve come to expect from Diplo and his crew. Check out the mayhem if you missed it, or catch the block party in your city. Images captured by Blake Jackson.
Vic Mensa has been popping up on talk shows and radio shows everywhere in support of his new album The Autobiography. He showed up at Hot 97 in New York and dropped this super hot freestyle. Vic experiments a lot, but at the end of the day there’s many young MC’s that can rival his bars. Check it out!

The Floozies have returned with a new song and video “Don’t Give Up On Me.” This one is dope, it’s a departure from what we’ve come to expect from The Floozies featuring more singing than usual, but it’s still nice and funky and has solid drop for the bass heads. We’re excited to see what else they have in store!
Chicago rapper Towkio recently announced that he signed with Rick Rubin’s American Recordings/Republic Records label where he’ll be releasing his debut album later in 2017. He just dropped the second single and video for “Hot Shit,” a poppy track that’s still dope, with a fun video. We have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot of this one in the coming months. Enjoy!
Boonie Mayfield made major waves on the internet under his former name Boon Doc by cooking up super hot beats from scratch and putting them on YouTube way before every producer was doing that. Since then he’s released a ton of dope beat tapes, songs, videos, and more under a variety of names, but with consistent quality. He’s back with Boondocumented Vol.3, a super smooth 48 track tape that showcases Boonie’s unique blend of neo-soul, hip hop and other elements. If you’re a beat head, show this underrated producer some love and check out Boondocumented Vol. 3 on Spotify and other major outlets. Thank us later.

Philmore Green is an up and coming artist from Chicago. Focused on substance and knowledge in an industry that mainly values money and fame, Philmore is trying to bring positivity to his city. The young artist has appeared on records with the likes of Little Brother’s Rapper Big Pooh, and many more. He’s just released his latest work, the visual treatment for Beautiful Picture 2, an honest look at what Philmore sees on a daily basis in the ghettos of the Chi. Over soulful production that bangs hard and gorgeous vocals on the chorus, Philmore gives some love to the hood with thoughtful lyrics. We’re hype to have our hands on this first! Check out the video and look out for more from this promising artist coming soon!
B.O.B might think the world is flat, but at least he still knows how to roll a round blunt. He went to HotNewHipHop headquarters to show them his swisher rolling technique, which appears to be pretty official. In 2017 though, we were a bit surprised it wasn’t a Backwood. Regardless, Swishers are a great starting point for anyone who doesn’t know how to roll a blunt from a cigar, and Bobby Ray breaks it down pretty simple. If ya don’t know, now ya know.
