This year’s 420 in Denver may have been the livest yet. Big name national talent could be found at every venue in the city, and we were lucky enough to host the inaugural 420 On The Block, a musical celebration of our favorite plant featuring an awesome spectrum of local and national acts from all genres including headliners Action Bronson, Break Science (Live Band,) and Matisyahu. The weather was far from perfect, but a little cold and a few clouds has never stopped the party in Colorado, especially not on the high holiday! Enthusiastic fans enjoyed the well curated vendor booths, food trucks and activities, and of course the music.
Mike G, one of the original members from beloved hip hop group Odd Future, has surprised fans and stoners across the world with the 4/20 release of his new EP, Chase Clouds: a project that came together on its own, during a time where Mike was in an extended creative period. The project stems from the creative process he has been in while working on his debut album Stealth Fighter, a frequency that Mike says he’s appreciative to be operating at.
When jazz legend Milton “Mezz” Mezzrow took the journey from Chicago to Harlem, he brought with him a lifestyle that would surpass his living legend. A staple at jam sessions of the Harlem Renaissance, Mezzrow became known for having the most potent cannabis the artist community had ever experienced. In fact, his name, “Mezz”, would become synonymous with the high-grade experience, carrying on to the new evolution of cannabis culture, with Mezz Brands. Now the brand is taking over BETA Nightclub for two days of massive 4/20 programming and the launch of the latest formulations crafted by Evolab, with soundtracking by NERO live.
A$AP Rocky has been relatively quiet for a while now, it’s been 3 years since he dropped his last full length project, and he’s really only popped up on few random features here and there in the mean time. He just introduced two new songs during his Jimmy Fallon performance recently, and now he’s back with the video for “A$AP Forever,” a dope flip of Moby’s classic “Porcelain.” As always when it comes to Rocky, this video is nice and trippy, and super clean.
April 20th has long been the day that weed smokers around the country (and world) come out of hiding to celebrate our favorite plant, puff tough, and let the government know that there are millions of otherwise law-abiding citizens who use cannabis. Ever since legalizing recreational use in 2012, Denver has become the epicenter of the celebration as host to several full on festivals, as well as a barrage of concerts around the city the entire weekend. While it would be impossible to hit every show that’s going down, we’re sure as hell going to try. Check out our weekend preview of the events we’re looking forward to the most, listed chronologically.
A few days ago Wiz Khalifa quietly dropped off this freestyle on youtube along with the following message: “One of the rawest freestyles from Wiz in a long time. Strictly for the Taylors. Rolling Papers 2 coming soon. Taylor Gang or Die.” He’s got some dope bars in there, and it’s the classic smooth flow we’re used to hearing from Wiz. Great way to get in the spirit for the coming holiday this month!

Our homie Willis Small aka @Shutterspit captured the eventful performance. Check it out!
Cannabis destigmatization in society has been an ongoing battle for decades now. A common misconception is that it is directly tied to opiate abuse and considered a gateway drug to the so-called real, hard drugs like cocaine or heroin.

The Bay Area rapper’s hit song “Him & I,” featuring Halsey has been on Billboard’s hot 100 for 12 weeks now, and it’s in heavy rotation at radio stations around the country. We caught the Denver stop of his The Beautiful & Damned Tour w/ Phora & Trippie Redd at 1st Bank Center, where the 28 year old MC performed to a packed house. Enjoying A1 stage production and G-Eazy’s signature crystal clear vocals, the crowd sang along to all the hits, and the young artist reminded everyone why he’s one of the most popular rappers out right now. Our boy Blake Jackson captured some of the magic, check it out!
