Singer and songwriter Jamila Woods has been paying dues in the music industry for quite a while now, and she’s finally getting some much deserved spotlight with her sophomore album LEGACY! LEGACY!, a soul kissed modern masterpiece which dropped last month. In addition to the chart spots and critical acclaim the album is recieving, Woods has been on the road for weeks serenading adoring fans at packed and sold out nights across the country. We caught one of the closing nights of the tour at the historic Star Theatre in downtown Portland, Oregon. With tour openers Nitty Scott and one-woman-show Duendita (who was incredible) to set things off, everyone was more than ready when Jamily finally floated onto the stage with her excellent band. Playing most of the material from LEGACY! LEGACY!, Jamila displayed some serious star power with a pitch perfect and energetic performance. Glowing with a huge smile between each song, it was evident that Jamila she hasn’t quite gotten used to seeing sold out crowds singing every word along with her. Producer G Jones is in the thick of ‘The Ineffable Truth” tour, his largest headline tour to date, and he just made a stop at Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium over the weekend for an unforgettable Saturday night on April 27th. The bill was stacked with a stellar opening lineup that consisted of Stooki Sound, Buku, and Ivy Lab, who all threw down energetic performances to set the stage for the main event. As expected, G Jones set primarily showcased cuts from The Ineffable Truth, but he definitely flexed his DJ skills and snuck in some other material. The visual display features a minimalist monochromatic scheme that created a tasteful, unique, and cohesive experience and allowed the audience to get lost in an 8-bit world of crunchy synths, slapping drums and heavy bass. Our friend Blake Jackson documented the journey. Check out the photos below, and if you get a chance to catch The Ineffable Truth Tour in another city, don’t miss it!

Montreal based DJ/Producer Lunice is one of the music industries best kept secrets. While his accolades as a record producer, and member of duo TNGHT are more than extensive, he maintains a relative level of relative anonymity in the public eye as a solo act. His talent stretches from production and DJing, to dancing and performance art, and everything in between, and he’s earned the respect of many of the top names in music throughout his career. He’s finally getting more and more attention with his genre bending style that draws heavily from hip hop and trap roots. With intricate textures and some of the snappiest drums you’ve heard, Lunice has honed a razor sharp, and often dark sound that is both entrancing and unpredictable. This rising star is constantly in the studio, but he’s doing a limited run of a few North American dates that includes a headline appearance at Denver’s award-winning venue, The Black Box, on Feb 28th!
