Sic Withit – Wasteland LP
California rapper Sic WithIt has released his long-awaited debut album, Wasteland, that is an exploration of a hellish, multi-genre landscape. With an uprising that can only be described as traumatic, Sic WithIt has been able to elevate in this apocalyptic oasis that is the rap game in 2020. In this wasteland, this is his story.
Intense, fiery, and passionate are three words that could best describe Wasteland, from top to bottom. Tracks like “U Don’t Know Me” and “Gucci” are fast and furious, while “Anotha One” and “Live Your Life” portray a different side of Sic WithIt — one more attuned to milky melodies and smooth aesthetics. The LP covers not only Sic WithIt’s unlikely rise to prominence but also the mental makeup that drives his everyday thought processes. It’s the kind of thought-provoking listen that is deeper than the barks of the raps and melodies. There’s something new to glean at every corner.
Wasteland features a wide array of some of the hottest artists in the rap game. “Anotha One” features Detroit rapper 42 Dugg who recently went viral with the Lil Baby collaboration, “We Paid.” YBN Almighty Jay appears on the recently released single, “U A Snitch” and other renowned lyricists like Slim 400, Yukmouth, Bo Roc, and more make welcome appearances. For veteran rap fans, there’s even a surprising appearance: Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs N Harmony glides across “Fuck A Fake Friend.” With so many special cosigns to explore Sic WithIt’s narrative, it’s clear that his story is strong enough to shake a mountain.
