SolarFive Drops New Album “1 Mo’ ‘Gin” Featuring Mick Jenkins and more
Coming from Chicago’s South Side Chatham area, SolarFive is a multi-faceted rapper, producer, and audio engineer who has built with Filthē Analects Record label. As a member of the OnGaud producing collective, Solar played an instrumental role in developing the sound of Chicago’s mid-2010s blog era. Now, Solar is back once more with a new LP, 1 Mo’ ‘Gin.
This 11 track project showcases his unfiltered lens on the streets of Chicago. With vibey and emotional production, the album stays true to the classic hip hop feel, but with up to date sounds and modern complex rhymes that strike a nice balance of melodic delivery and straight up bars. Standout tracks include “Numb” featuring Howie Stackz, as well as the title track “1 Mo’ ‘Gin,” and of course the final offering, “Lonely World” featuring frequent collaborator and legendary MC Mick Jenkins.
