Preview: Telefon Tel Aviv LIVE at The Black Box in Denver

Telefon Tel Aviv is the musical project of Joshua Eustis, an producer who in his own words,”is trying very hard to make music as a way to sweat out all the nasty things.” It has devolved from his eye-to-eye collaboration with the late Charles Wesley Cooper, III, into “the musical detritus of all the horror, awe, despair, hope, beauty, and contempt in our world.” Known for his dreamy sonic landscapes, Eustis takes listeners to the depths of his imagination, breaking all rules and expectations of stereotypical electronic music in the process. He’s taking over Denver’s award winning venue The Black Box in Capitol hill on December 22nd, and we can’t think of a better place to dive in to the deep layers of Telefon Tel Aviv’s unique music.

We’re not sure exactly what to expect for this performance, and that’s a good thing. In his original productions and mixes he incorporates elements of electronic, chill wave, techno, trip hop, classical and other genres, frequently experimenting in uncharted territory. Check out Telefon Tel Aviv’s music below if you aren’t familiar, and don’t miss this rare performance. Saturday night’s at The Black Box are always packed, so get tickets here before it’s too late.
