The inaugural Grandoozy has come and gone, and the organizers of Superfly (the minds behind Bonnaroo and Outside Lands) can claim another successful event to their name. Growing pains are to be expected with any opening, but over the weekend they were impressively minimal, centering largely on the difficulty of concert-goers’ arrival and exit. What most will remember, whether they purchased a one or three day pass, is the relentless talent that radiated from the four stages in Overland Park. Hailing from one of America’s most dangerous and forgotten neighborhoods, New Orleans’ 7th Ward, SuicideboyS have been taking the nation by storm. They only recently got on our radar after word spread of the duo quickly selling out large auditoriums around the country, something you don’t see all that often from independent artists. We had to see what the hype was all about. Their music has hardcore rap vibes with heavy bass and unexpected samples that both rappers really work well with. We’ve seen a lot of sold out shows, but to say the $uicideboy$ concert at The Fillmore was packed, would be a massive understatement. On either side people were practically being pushed off the railings to get a view, and in the center of the venue (for anyone brave enough to enter) there was a full blown mosh pit that could rival any metal show.
Nicki Minaj just capped off a pretty dramatic last few days with a bit of fun. The rapper dropped the video for “Barbie Dreams” tonight, following the few harsh words she had for Cardi B following their physical confrontation over the weekend. But the video features little sign that the rapper is anything but jovial, because how can you be mad when there are puppets?
Donald Glover has been rolling out what he’s said to be his last album as Childish Gambino. So far he’s impressed with “This Is America” landing his first number one single on the Billboard charts, and since then he’s continued with “Feels Like Summer” which has just seen it’s official music video. This animated video filled with huge cameos like Kanye Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Michelle Obama, Drake, Future, Beyonce, 21 Savage, Chance The Rapper, Birdman, Migos, Trippie Redd, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Gucci Mane, J. Cole, Outkast and more in the Justin Richburg animated visuals. Check out the video below and enjoy!

Several label mates from California’s Courteous Family have been on a North American run promoting the label as well as several new releases from each respective artist. The takeover stopped at Denver’s bass music hub The Black Box for an evening of experimental beats from headliner Huxley Anne, who threw down a banging set that included several tracks from her 2017 release Illium plus much more. Support from Gangus, Hapa, and Tone rounded out an excellent show. In case you missed it, our own Tylar Beechum captured the fun. Check out the photo recap and look out for more underground music at The Black Box coming soon!

Wiz Khalifa’s new album Rolling Papers 2 didn’t make the noise it should have but at least he’s promoting it with music videos. The marijuana enthusiast is back today with the music video for the short track ‘Goin Hard’ where he’s surrounded by a lot of women who are twerking most of the time.
Few artists in the game currently have a buzz like the prolific New Orleans duo $uicideboy$. With an entirely unique brand of dark, hardcore hip hop, they’ve worked with everyone from Juicy J, to Denzel Curry, as well as members of the A$AP Mob and more. Still independent at the moment, the two cousins Ruby da Cherry (aka Suicide Leopard) and Slick Sloth (aka Suicide Christ) have managed to sell out shows almost instantaneously in all the major cities including Chicago, LA, New York, and most recently here in Denver.
